Every woman dreams of well-groomed, healthy hair, but not everyone is ready to constantly trim split ends by at least two to three centimetres every few months. This is why the beauty salon has introduced an excellent service known as “hair polishing.” The essence of the service is to eliminate split curls without cutting the actual length of the strands. As a result, the curls become smooth and soft to the touch.

Indications for polishing

The primary criterion for women is the desire to grow long, beautiful hair; polishing is the ideal solution for this. Otherwise, it is not easy to grow healthy strands without subjecting them to scissors. The longer the hair, the more mechanical stress it endures from hair dryers, flat irons, and curling irons. Their external condition is immediately apparent, particularly at the tips. Split hair makes hairstyles look unkempt and dirty. Polishing quickly and effortlessly creates well-groomed, smooth hair if it:

- Is regularly subjected to hot styling tools;

- Is prone to dryness and severe breakage;

- Has undergone bleaching or colouring;

- Has had a chemical perm.

A special attachment designed for hair polishing is used. It fits onto almost any professional hair clipper. The attachment should be passed over the same strand at most a few times, trimming only the protruding, dead ends. During a thorough process, up to 95% of split curls are removed.

Before polishing, the head must be washed with a single shampoo, without using additional masks or conditioners.

Aftercare

To ensure the results last a long time, it is necessary to follow proper care rules. Under these conditions, polishing will only need to be done a few times a year.

Basic rules for caring for healthy hair:

- Care products must be selected based on the individual quality of the strands;

- A conditioner or mask should be applied regularly after washing the hair;

- Moisturise with oils and oily solutions;

- Use hair dryers, flat irons, and curling irons as little as possible.

Pros and cons of hair polishing

The main advantage is the fact that no more than one centimetre of strand length is cut after a session. For three months following the service, the hair looks very neat and does not tangle. The ends have an evenly trimmed edge, provided they were not cut with scissors.

The procedure is quite simple to perform, highly effective, and the results are visible immediately.

The downside of the service is that polishing cannot be used on all hair types. The procedure is not effective on curly or thin hair, as the clipper removes some volume from the hair. The price of the procedure varies depending on the density and length of the hair.

Some professionals who have completed hairdressing training assert that women who have firmly decided to grow long, beautiful hair and wish to completely eliminate split ends in a single procedure should opt for the salon hair polishing service. It is better to pay a little extra and have healthy hair than to visit a salon or barbershop every two months to trim the length. The service does not take much time and does not require special training skills. It is easy to perform at home independently; one only needs the necessary tools.
