President hands petition to Cabinet and SBU to strip Potap of Honoured Artist title

Reaction to civic initiative

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky tasked the government and the Security Service of Ukraine with examining the possibility of stripping musician Potap of the honorary title "Honoured Artist of Ukraine". This decision was made based on a petition published on the official website of the head of state, which reached the required threshold of 25,000 signatures.

In his address, Zelensky thanked the authors and signatories of the petition for their active civic stance and support for initiatives aimed at protecting the Ukrainian cultural and information space from Russian influences and narratives.

«Дякую всім, хто долучився до цієї петиції, за активну громадянську позицію, за підтримку ініціатив, спрямованих на захист українського культурно-інформаційного простору від російських впливів і наративів» (I thank everyone who joined this petition for their active civic stance, for supporting initiatives aimed at protecting the Ukrainian cultural and information space from Russian influences and narratives), the president stated.

Next steps

According to the response, the submitted petition was forwarded to the Cabinet of Ministers and the SBU for a detailed review of the issue raised therein.
